A nun decapitates the lord of a province which prompts barbarians, empires, criminals, and other monarchies to take advantage of the rudderless province. Standing between the attackers and the ruin of the province are the sisters of the Santa Isabel Convent, warrior nuns. Helping them is an outlaw who serves as their spy and cohort. In battle and in administration, the thief helps the nuns prevail and is rewarded with more responsibilities as he deals with all the fantastic beings of the Enchanted Forest and the Empire. He and one nun fall in love with each other, so she becomes his partner in his challenges and conquests. The readers’ imaginations will be as challenged as much as the outlaw is challenged by his predicament.
